Why I want to go to Iceland

Iceland has been on my mind lately as a vacation destination. Its not that complicated to get to from SEA, which is surprising and although things are expensive there seem to be some good travel agent deals.

Anyway, enough small talk….here are some photos I found that really convey the fire and ice, prehistoric nature of the island

Boys will be boys, McLaren Style

I absolutely love this commercial that Mercedes has just run.
It features the two McLaren team-mates Alonso (boo) and Hamilton (yeah).

I was hoping Hamilton might deck Alonso, but I’m not that lucky.

Liam got a powerwheels Kawasaki Quad today. It’s an early birthday present from my dad.
He loved it right out of the box. He figured out how to make it go, stop and reverse, but he still has some problems with the steering.

20/20

Not the news show….but my eyes. I’m officially seeing 20/20 on my last LASIX follow-up visit. I have a slight undercorrection, but that is desirable compared to the opposite. It’s great to be able to see without my glasses. My surgery and recovery were simple, mostly pain-free and most importantly had no complications. Hooray for medical science.

Now this is clearly the coolest thing I’ve seen in a very very long time.
I’m guessing its about 1/5th scale. Its got all the belts, radiator, fans, ignition like a big motor. Awesome!

BMW 6 series, on a diet

Being the lover of BMW’s 6 series that I am, I asked myself what the car would look like without the infamous “banglebutt.” I took a stab at removing the said trunklid using photoshop and this is what I came up with…

    6seriesminusbanglebutt

I think the car looks beautiful without the hard trunk line and I noticed that the rear of the car looks an awful lot like a 911. So then I came up with this comparison….

    The TV: A wireless monitor?

Just thinking today that more and more of the content I watch on my television comes from my computer. All this AppleTV talk has me longing for a device which acts as a wireless conduit for content from computers on my network. The AppleTV isn’t right for many reasons, most of which comes from its itunes centric approach to managing content.

Netgear has a new product, the EVA8000, which does pretty much what I want for a bit more than I want to spend. It would be cool to have a plasma mounted to the wall with only this device behind it. All the content would be “pushed” via wireless with no need for cable boxes or the like plugged into the TV. Best of all, there would be no loss of quality as there is when I plug my computer into my current TV.

    Miss USA

I’m embarrassed to say I’m watching Miss USA at the moment. Now that that’s out there I’ve got to say that the crop of contestants sure is low quality. I see some of these states (like WA) and say “thats the best you could do.” Oh well, I’m mean.

Also, I think it would be a fabulous idea if they made the contestants represent the stereotypes of their state.

    Ok I’m done…this is a lame topic.
